PREDANCE – Ages 2 ½ – 4
A 45 minute class for pre-schoolers teaching ballet, tap and creative movement. Dancers will learn basic steps and terminology in ballet and tap, using age appropriate music. Students may use fun props during class and will improve flexibility and coordination and develop an enjoyment of dance and movement as well as a positive self-image. Dancers will learn classroom skills such as following directions, standing on a line, and working with others. Placement Notes: It is highly recommended that Pre-Dance students be at least 2 ½ by Sept 1st. Younger dancers should consider Mommy & Me class.
BALLET/TAP – Ages 5-6
A One Hour class for 5-7 year old’s where students will continue learning the basic fundamentals of ballet and tap, and will perform a routine in each style, in our year end recital. Along with the introduction of skills and technique, instructors continue to help dancers improve their flexibility, coordination and rhythm, using age appropriate music. Placement Notes: Students should be at least 5 years old by Sept. 1st. Students younger than this should consider Pre-Dance class.
MUSICAL THEATER – Age 8 and Up
Musical Theater is either 45 or 60 minutes depending on age. Dancers will learn fun songs from Broadway pieces and movies, learning to act as well as dance! This class is a big hit with students that have a passion for acting and drama. Students will have the opportunity to act out their favorite scenes, with their theatrical facial expressions and fun, showy choreography!
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED BALLET – Age 8 and Up
This one-hour class is the foundation of most modern day dance forms. Beginning at an introductory level, this beautiful and demanding technique is a necessity for all young dancers. There is a strong emphasis on technique and terminology, while working on body alignment and poise. Class time will consist of barre work, while executing basic through advanced ballet steps (depending on Level). Intermediate/Advanced dancers will learn more detailed combinations, continue with barre work, and execute center work, consisting of combining multiple steps, jumps and turns. Ballet classes are offered at various levels, with placement based on the Director’s discretion.
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED LYRICAL – Age 8 and Up
This half hour class is taken in conjunction with Ballet. Combining the styles of Ballet and Jazz, Lyrical allows students to express emotion through movement. Dancers are taught to interpret movement with feeling, motion and style. They will learn to tell a story or create the picture of the song. Dancers must be enrolled in a Ballet class, in order to register for Lyrical.
